Missing reports in Easter Sunday investigation, special probe underway: Cabinet Spokesperson

Cabinet Spokesman Minister Vijitha Herath has assured that legal action will be taken against those responsible for the Easter Sunday terror attacks, while also revealing that a special investigation is underway into missing parts of the inquiry report.

Addressing the media during today’s (8) Cabinet press conference, Minister Herath confirmed that certain sections of the committee report on the Easter attacks had gone missing, prompting a deeper probe.

“We have initiated a special inquiry to uncover the full truth behind the Easter attack. We are investigating how specific parts of the committee’s report, including missing pages, disappeared during the process. The investigation is moving forward, and we are committed to providing the people with answers,” he stated.

While acknowledging the delays in the inquiry, Minister Herath emphasized that the government is determined to ensure justice. “It is taking time because we want a thorough and transparent investigation. We will keep the public informed of the findings,” he said.

The minister reaffirmed the government’s stance on holding those responsible accountable, stating, “Strict decisions will be made to bring those involved to justice. We are not covering anything up—justice will be served.”
