The Sri Lanka Police has advised the public to inform the Acting IGP Priyantha Weerasuriya, if they do not receive a summons within two weeks after filing a complaint at any police station. Those affected can submit a complaint via the platform www.telligp.police.lk.
Acting IGP Weerasuriya has directed that all complaints currently pending investigation be addressed and completed within two weeks. Senior officers, including provincial Senior DIGs, have been instructed to create and enforce a special program to expedite the process.
The Acting IGP’s statement revealed that many complaints remain uninvestigated, potentially leading to more severe crimes and eroding public trust in law enforcement. Moving forward, he emphasized that police stations must begin investigations on the day complaints are filed and conclude within 48 hours. Additionally, officers have been tasked with monitoring the system and reporting any non-compliant Police OICs.
