Sri Lankan cricketer Niroshan Dickwella is expected to face a three-year ban from all forms of cricket following an alleged anti-doping violation, Ada Derana reported.
On 16 August, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) confirmed Dickwella’s suspension from participating in all cricket activities with immediate effect after being found guilty of a doping violation during the Lanka Premier League (LPL).
The violation came to light after a doping test conducted by the Sri Lanka Anti-Doping Agency (SLADA) during the LPL 2024. SLC emphasized that the test is part of its ongoing efforts, in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and in line with World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) guidelines, to uphold the integrity of the sport.
In a statement, SLC reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a drug-free environment, adding that random tests are conducted during domestic tournaments to safeguard against doping violations.
