The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has decided to lift the rule requiring Sri Lankans living abroad and those receiving export income to convert a certain amount of their dollars into Sri Lankan Rupees, according to The Daily News.
Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, said that this decision was made in light of the increasing US dollar inflows from remittances sent by Sri Lankans abroad, export earnings, and tourism revenue.
